Tulsa, Ok – Tulsa patrol car stolen; thief shot by police

TULSA, Okla. (AP) An unidentified private citizen helped police capture a man who stole a Tulsa patrol car.

Police said the car was stolen about 9:30 p.m. Saturday when officers tried to serve an arrest warrant.

Tulsa police identified the suspect as Steven Cahill, but did not provide an age or hometown.

Rogers County Sheriff Scott Walton said the stolen car was followed by a citizen who kept 911 dispatchers informed of the car's whereabouts as the chase unfolded on Interstate 44. Walton said the car stopped at U.S. 412 and the man shot at police, who returned fire, striking an elbow.

Walton said he drove off again, driving east on U.S. 412 until the car was forced off the highway near Inola and the driver was captured.
