Man Dead After Hit by Pryor Trian

Authorities in Pryor say a pedestrian has died after being struck by a freight train.

The incident occurred about 10:45 a.m. Sunday in the northeastern Oklahoma city. Witnesses say the unidentified man was struck by a train at a crossing in the city.

A medical helicopter and Oklahoma Highway Patrol troopers responded to the scene. Assistant Police Chief James Willyard says a middle-aged man was taken to a local hospital in critical condition and later died of his injuries.

Police say they are investigating the death as a suicide. Willyard says it appear the victim was on the tracks at the time of the incident.

Troopers say that Pryor Police department investigators are continuing to look into the collision and that only one railroad crossing is open in the city.
