TULSA, Okla. (AP) A man who fell off a bridge into the Verdigris River while he was being sought by police for his daughter's disappearance has been booked into the Tulsa Jail on outstanding charges.

Sheriff's office records show Ambrose Fountinal Martinez III is in custody on first-degree rape and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon counts. The charges were filed in July.

Police say Martinez's friend checked the man's 8-year-old daughter out of school Monday morning, then took her to be with her father.

Catoosa Assistant Police Chief John Blish says an Amber Alert was issued but an officer quickly found the girl with Martinez, who then fled on foot.

As police closed in, Martinez climbed onto a railroad bridge near Oklahoma 66 and a two-hour standoff ensued.
