Man Arrested after Crashing Car at Tulsa Airport

KWGS News File Photo

TULSA, Okla. (AP) — Authorities say a man has been arrested after crashing his car through a fence at Tulsa International Airport.

Police say the incident began late Monday when an officer noticed a stolen vehicle at a nearby motel. Tulsa television station KTUL reports  a man saw the police officer in the motel parking lot, jumped in the car and sped away.

Authorities say the pursuit ended when the man crashed the car into a fence near the south end of the airport. He was arrested shortly after the crash.

Police say the man won't face federal charges because he didn't drive past a restrictive barrier at the airport. Airspace above the airport was closed for a short time as a police helicopter searched for the suspect, but no flights were delayed.
