File Photo

TULSA, Okla. (AP) — Tulsa police have shot a reportedly suicidal man who pointed a weapon at officers.

Officers did not learn that the weapon was a BB gun until after they had shot him Saturday night.

Police were called to an apartment complex at about 9 p.m. Saturday by a man who said his roommate was suicidal.

Tulsa police said in a news release that officers saw the man walk onto the balcony a few times.

About 11 p.m., the man pointed what appeared to be a rifle with a scope at officers. An officer fired several times, killing the man.

The officer's name hasn't been released. Police said they are trying to confirm the identity of the dead man.
