Machete Arrest

Lawton, Okla. – LAWTON, Okla. (AP) Lawton police have arrested a shirtless man they say was carrying around a machete and a stolen flag.

Police say they received a call about the unidentified man in southwest Lawton about 8:15 p.m. Monday. Dispatchers told officers the man might need an emergency order of detention. The man was described as in his early 40s, shirtless, wearing a pair of blue jeans and carrying the machete and flag.

Police Lt. Robert Puccino says the man tried to get inside a neighbor's home before damaging the front porch and taking one of the neighbor's flags. Officers soon found and detained the man but Puccino says they continued to search for the machete after dark.

Puccino says the man was taken to the Lawton city jail for drunk and disorderly conduct.
