Local Immigrants Nervous About Future

Amazon

Despite reassurances from law enforcement, Tulsa’s Latino community is concerned about possible immigration sweeps.

Attorney Laura Bachman is with the YWCA in Tulsa. She says the immigrants have been dehumanized. Bachman says the immigrants feel like a number or the title 'unwanted'.  She says everyday the YWCA gets phone calls from immigrants seeking reassurances.

The Tulsa Police Department says it does not intend to do immigration work. The Sheriff’s Department does work closely with ICE, but says they are not planning immigrant round-ups.
