Oklahoma City, OK – First bills filed for new Okla. Legislature

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) The first bills of the new 53rd Oklahoma Legislature have been filed at the state Capitol.

Four Senate bills were filed Tuesday. The first two bills by Sen. John Ford, a Tulsa Republican, relate to education and teachers. Senate Bill 1 deletes certain hearing requirements from the Teacher Due Process Act.

Two other bills by Sens. James Wilson, a Tahlequah Democrat, and Mike Mazzei, a Tulsa Republican, deal with income and sales taxes.

The bill filing deadline in both the House and Senate is Jan. 20.
