LAWTON, Okla. (AP) — Police in Lawton say an incident first reported as a fall on the ice may be a homicide.
Authorities say first responders were called to an apartment in Lawton early Thursday on a report that a man had fallen down on the ice. Police say 23-year-old James Kemp was taken to a hospital, where he later died.
But Lawton Deputy Police Chief Will Hines says that Kemp suffered wounds "not consistent with a fall." Hines declined to elaborate on Kemp's injuries.
The Lawton Constitution reports that Kemp's body was sent to the medical examiner's office for an autopsy.
If Kemp's death is ruled a homicide, it would be the fifth so far this year in Lawton.
