Lawton Man Drowns in Southwestern Oklahoma Lake

SNYDER, Okla. (AP) — A young Lawton man has drowned at a lake in southwestern Oklahoma.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says 22-year-old Jose Garcia was wading in the Tom Steed Lake Swim Beach area about 3:15 p.m. Sunday and started swimming north from there.

Troopers say he wasn't seen after that.

A crew using side-scan sonar and a drag tool located his body and pulled him out around 8:20 p.m. Sunday evening.

Garcia was the second person to drown in an Oklahoma lake this weekend.
