Lawsuits Over Fatal Softball Bus Crash Settled or Dismissed

KWGS File Photo

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — Three lawsuits over an Oklahoma bus crash that killed four North Central Texas College softball players have been dismissed or settled; but the reasons for dismissal and terms of the settlement have not been released.

The team was traveling home to Gainesville, Texas, from a scrimmage in Bethany on September 26th when the southbound bus was struck by a northbound tractor-trailer rig in the southbound lanes of Interstate 35 near Davis. Killed were 19-year-old Meagan Richardson of Wylie, Texas; 18-year-old Katelynn Woodlee of Windom, Texas; 20-year-old Jaiden Pelton of Telephone, Texas; and 20-year-old Brooke Deckard of Scurry, Texas.

Court records show lawsuits on behalf of Pelton and survivor Megan Leann Durante were dismissed, but provide no details. A lawsuit on behalf of Richardson was settled, with the file then sealed.
