Oklahoma City, OK – Terrill says he is innocent of bribery charge

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) State Rep. Randy Terrill says he is innocent of a bribery charge filed against him this week and says the count is politically motivated.

Oklahoma County District Attorney David Prater on Wednesday charged Terrill with offering former state Sen. Debbe Leftwich an $80,000 a year state job to not run for re-election. Leftwich is charged with soliciting or accepting the bribe.

Terrill issued a statement Thursday saying he has done nothing improper and is confident he'll be exonerated. He said the charge is an effort to damage him politically.

Prater denied the allegation and told The Oklahoman that his job "has nothing to do with politics."

Leftwich through her attorney also denies wrongdoing.
