OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — U.S. Sen. James Lankford is releasing a report he calls "Federal Fumbles" that details what he describes as $247 billion in "wasteful and inefficient federal spending and regulations."
The 154-page report released Monday highlights examples of government spending, like a $200,000 National Science Foundation grant to study fish bones in Tanzania.
The report mirrors a similar project put out each year by Lankford's predecessor, former U.S. Sen. Tom Coburn, who had a reputation as a watchdog for wasteful government spending.
Lankford's report highlights grants or federal regulations that he says need more oversight as well as what he describes as a lack of coordination between various federal agencies.
Lankford is a Republican from Edmond and easily won re-election in November to a full six-year term in office.
