Killer Tornado Hits State

By AP

Tushka, OK – 2 people killed as storms tear through Oklahoma

TUSHKA, Okla. (AP) Authorities have confirmed that who people have been killed after a tornado ripped through the tiny southeastern Oklahoma town.

The Oklahoma Department of Emergency Management says the state medical examiner's office confirmed both deaths in Tushka. More than two dozen other people were hurt.

Officials are also still trying to determine the extent of the damage in the town of 350 people. Efforts have been hampered because the tornado struck after dark. Also, downed trees and power lines had made road travel difficult.

Paul Reano, CEO of Atoka County Medical Center, says the injuries ranged from cuts and scratches to more serious problems. He did not have additional details on the injuries.
