Kickback Alleged

By Associated Press

Oklahoma City, OK – Oklahoma man charged with soliciting a kickback

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) Federal prosecutors say a 37-year-old Ponca City man tried to solicit a kickback in connection with the awarding of a security services subcontract to protect U.S. government personnel and contractors in Afghanistan.

Ryan Scott McMonigle was indicted Thursday in federal court in Virginia on one count of conspiracy to solicit a kickback and one count of aiding and abetting the solicitation of a kickback.

It was not immediately known Friday if McMonigle had hired an attorney.

The indictment says McMonigle was employed from approximately February 2009 until May 2009 in Afghanistan by Civilian Police International. The Virginia-based company provides law enforcement training internationally.

The indictment alleges that McMonigle helped conspire to solicit kickbacks from security vendors in return for favorable treatment for those potential bidders for the subcontract.
