Oklahoma City, OK – Oklahoma judge turns herself in on charges

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) An Oklahoma County judge facing more than 30 fraud and perjury counts in a foster-care claims case has turned herself in at the county jail.

Sheriff's spokesman Mark Myers says District Judge Tammy Bass-LeSure and her husband, Carlos LeSure, surrendered just before 10 a.m. Monday. Both were booked into the jail and released on their own recognizance, awaiting their initial court appearance.

Tammy Bass-LeSure is charged with 32 counts of making false, fictitious or fraudulent claims against the state and two counts of perjury. Her attorney told reporters outside the jail that the judge maintains she is innocent.

Karlos LeSure is charged with two counts of perjury and two counts of making a false, fictitious or fraudulent claim against the state.

Tammy Bass-LeSure has been a judge since 1998.
