TULSA, Okla. (AP) — A 22-year-old man has received four consecutive life sentences for killing an 84-year-old Tulsa woman and brutally beating her husband.

Tulsa County District Judge William Kellough handed down the sentence Monday for Tyrone Dale Woodfork. Prosecutors accused Woodfork in the March 2012 attack at the home of Bob and Nancy Strait.

Authorities say Nancy Strait was raped and killed, while her husband was seriously injured. Bob Strait, who was 89, died several weeks later, though Woodfork wasn't charged in his death because it was attributed to underlying medical conditions.

According to the Tulsa World, Woodfork told the family that he was sorry for their loss but said he was innocent in the attack. A jury convicted Woodfork in May of felony murder, assault and battery and first-degree rape
