Judge Considers Blocking Amendment

By Associated Press

Oklahoma City, Oklahoma – A federal judge will consider today whether to block a constitutional amendment that prohibits state courts from considering international or Islamic law when deciding cases. Oklahoma voters approved the measure in the Nov. 2 election. Muneer Awad, the executive director of the Council on American-Islamic Relations in Oklahoma, says the amendment stigmatizes his religion and would invalidate his will.
