Tulsa, OK – OU, TU hoping to create joint medical program

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) The University of Oklahoma and the University of Tulsa hope to create a joint medical education program between the two schools.

When OU regents meet on Tuesday in Norman, they will consider the creation of a "planning initiative" that would have as its goal the creation of such a program.

TU spokesman David Hamby says a press event is scheduled in Tulsa on Tuesday to make a formal announcement about the plans, but he declined to reveal details.

According to an OU regents agenda item posted on the university's Web site, the joint program would be developed around the concept of a School of Community Medicine.

OU has such a school on its Tulsa campus.
