Former state lawmaker and 2014 Democratic candidate for governor Joe Dorman says he won't run for governor in 2018.
The Rush Springs Democrat released a statement Wednesday saying that while he's flattered to be considered a candidate, he has no plans to seek the office when current Republican Gov. Mary Fallin is forced out by term limits.
The 46-year-old Dorman says he's committed his work as executive director of the Oklahoma Institute for Child Advocacy, a position he accepted in September.
Despite being heavily outspent, Dorman won 41 percent of the vote against Fallin in 2014.
Dorman is the latest Democrat to announce he won't run for governor in 2018 after former U.S. Rep. Dan Boren told The Associated Press earlier this week he won't seek the post.
