Tulsa, Oklahoma – On this edition of our program, we offer a chat with the young novelist J.M. Tohline, a Tulsa-based writer, originally from the Boston area, who has just published his first novel. This book, "The Great Lenore" --- with its deliberate echoes of Scott Fitzgerald, Donna Tartt, and others --- has been tagged by Small Press Reviews as "a page-turner that introduces [us to] an author with a clear and profound appreciation for the American literary canon." The New York Journal of Books has likewise noted: "[Tohline's novel is] beautiful in the same way that J.D. Salinger's books are beautiful.... [It] hangs in your consciousness after the last note has sounded, making it impossible for long moments to think. One just feels." On today's ST, Tohline tells us what his new novel is about, when its inspiration first took hold, how he finally got it published, and where he plans to turn his authorial attention in the future.
