Jay Principal Charged in Fatal Boating Accident

KWGS News File Photo

JAY, Okla. (AP) — A Jay Middle School principal is charged with manslaughter for a boating accident on Grand Lake that killed a family friend during the summer.

Officials say 39-year-old Roger Carroll of Eucha was charged Friday in Delaware County District Court. He's charged with felony first-degree manslaughter and misdemeanor reckless operation of a vessel.

Carroll's lawyer, Winston Connor the Second, says that based on the evidence, he's disappointed that charges were filed.

The Tulsa World reports Carroll and three others were aboard boat when it struck a breakwater structure on July 29th.

The crash ejected 39-year-old Monte Price of Jay, who was killed. Carroll and two others were injured.
