Jay principal acquitted on charge in boat crashJAY, Okla. (AP) — The principal of Jay Middle School has been found not guilty of manslaughter in the deadly crash of a boat on Grand Lake.

A Delaware County jury deliberated about four hours Thursday before acquitting 39-year-old Roger Shane Carroll for the death of 39-year-old Monte Price.

Prosecutors argued that Carroll was driving the boat when it crashed last July — throwing Price into the lake. Carroll and two others on the boat were injured.

Carroll said that Price was driving the boat.

Carroll is on unpaid leave from the middle school. A school attorney told the Tulsa World that the school board will schedule a hearing within two weeks to determine whether to approve the school superintendent's recommendation that Carroll be fired.
