Tulsa, Oklahoma – As Tulsa turns its collective attention to finding another Police Chief, what sorts of qualities should we look for in this person? And, once he or she is finally on the job, what sorts of issues and challenges will this new Chief face? We discuss such questions on StudioTulsa today with Drew Diamond, a 22-year veteran of the TPD, a stint that culminated in his tenure as Chief of Police for the City of Tulsa. He retired from that post some 18 years ago. Since then, he's been a consultant for the State Department, the Department of Justice, and the Department of Homeland Security; he's also worked for the FBI, and has assisted police departments in other countries in a consultant capacity. Diamond has also worked --- for more than 15 years --- with the Police Executive Research Forum (or PERF), which helps police organizations around the nation with various strategic, staffing, practical, and theoretical matters. A longtime advocate of "community policing," Diamond now serves as the Head of Security for Union Public Schools in Tulsa.
