Investigation May Not Be Over

Tulsa, Ok – Okla corrupt cops probe may not be over

TULSA, Okla. (AP) A special prosecutor says a probe started two years ago to investigate allegations of widespread police corruption in Tulsa could have new life.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Jane Duke of Little Rock, Ark., says even though jury trials involving five officers have wrapped up, her office still has more information gathered during the probe and could turn it over to another agency.

In the pair of trials this summer, two police officers were convicted by jurors and three were acquitted.

The probe has already led to overturned convictions or shortened sentences for nearly 40 people. And prosecutors say any new evidence could result in more dismissed cases based on evidence brought to prosecutors by officers targeted by the investigation.
