CHANDLER, Okla. (AP) — The Lincoln County sheriff says the county jail sustained about $2,000 in damage after more than two dozen inmates tried to break out of their enclosed section.
Sheriff Charlie Dougherty says about 28 inmates tried to break glass inside a section of the jail shortly before 3 a.m. Monday. The sheriff says more than 30 officers responded to the jail within minutes, and no inmates escaped.
Dougherty tells Oklahoma City television station KWTV (http://bit.ly/1qu4XO2 ) that the inmates were apparently upset because jailers had confiscated homemade tattooing equipment.
The sheriff says the incident lasted 27 minutes, and that inmates did not resist once law enforcement officers entered their section of the jail
