Inmate Who Escaped Southeastern Oklahoma Prison Recaptured

DOC

Authorities say an inmate who escaped the Jim E., Hamilton Correctional Center in Hodgen is back in custody.

Prison officials say 31-year-old Daryl Cooper was found and arrested Saturday morning in Heavener, about three miles north of Hodgen.

Authorities say Cooper was reported missing after failing to show up for a roll call Friday night. Details of the escape were not immediately released.

Oklahoma Department of Correction online records show Cooper was serving a 2½ year sentence after being convicted in Le Flore County in April of failing to register as a sex offender.
