Oklahoma City, OK – Okla. troopers step up enforcement during holiday

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) The Oklahoma Highway Patrol is taking part in the nationwide Combined Accident Reduction Effort during the Thanksgiving holiday weekend.

Known as Operation C.A.R.E. the program involves troopers and state police nationwide concentrating on alcohol-related offenses, speeders and safety belt and child restraint violations.

The OHP said in a news release that the program began at 6 p.m. Wednesday and will continue through Sunday.

During the day Thursday there was at least one state trooper scheduled for every 15 miles along Interstate 40 and Interstate 35 across Oklahoma.
