The city’s tight purse-strings may mean less service and or higher fares for Tulsa Transit customers.
The bus service is bracing for a tight city budget starting in July. General Manager Bill Cartwright says they have been polling customers about their preferences. He says riders overwhelming prefer higher fares over service cuts.
Right now the base fare is a $1.50. That would increase 25-cents to a $1.75. Lift fares would increase by 50-cents from $3.00 to $3.50
He says the only other option for the Tulsa Transit is a drastic cut in service. The new city budget must be in place by the end of June.
