Help the Tulsa School of Arts and Sciences Recover from a Devastating Fire

From TU President Dr. Geoffrey Orsak

September 5, 2012

This morning, the residents of Tulsa woke to the devastating news of the loss of the Tulsa School of Arts and Sciences to fire. Since then, the outpouring of concern from the TU family for the TSAS students, teachers and staff has been immediate and overwhelming. I have never been more proud.

As you may know, reports indicate the building and its contents are a total loss. Earlier today, members of our True Blue Neighbors community initiative contacted Tulsa Public Schools Superintendent Keith Ballard regarding the most pressing needs of TSAS. We know that at the very least, there will be a need to replenish all school supplies for students and teachers. Plans are under way to coordinate efforts to collect supplies.

TU’s Mike Mills (Associate Dean for Community Relations) and Kathy Shelton (Coordinator of the Student Volunteer Center) will coordinate our outreach efforts for TSAS through our True Blue Neighbors Volunteer Center. If you have questions or wish to donate, please email Kathy or Mike or call them at 918-631-3535 or 918-631-2510.

Our hearts go out to those affected by this disaster. The University of Tulsa will do everything we can to get them back on the path to a successful academic year as quickly as possible.
