Health Department to clean

By Catherine Roberts

Tulsa, Okla. – Part of the Tulsa Heath Department's effort to improve the health of North Tulsans includes the imminent construction of a new clinic at 56th Street North and Cincinnati Avenue, but that is not the only thing they have planned.

Health Department Marketing Director Melanie Christian says there are other, more minor projects in the works. This includes a neighborhood clean-up around the area where the new clinic will be.

June 25, about 60 health department employees will be conducting the clean-up, at 2-5 p.m.

Along with cleaning up the area, Health Department marketing director Melanie Christian said part of the goal will be "helping the city identify those poor housing structures that have been abandoned, and we'll report that to the city of Tulsa for follow-up."

Although the group cleaning on the 25th will just be Health Department employees, the new Midland Valley Neighborhood Association has been working to get residents involved with Health Department efforts in the neighborhood.
