Health Care Reform Rally at State Capitol

By Associated Press

Tulsa, OK – Human rights group rallies for health care

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) About a dozen members of a human rights group are lobbying at the state Capitol for universal health care.

Officials with the Central Oklahoma Human Rights Alliance read a proclamation Monday during a chilly press conference on the south steps of the Capitol.

Alliance Chairman Leslie Perkel says health care is a basic human right. She urged those in attendance to contact their elected representatives and express their support for a federal health care bill.

Oklahoma lawmakers are considering measure calling for a vote of the people that would prohibit any law requiring a person to purchase health care insurance.
