Harrah Students Hospitalized after Taking Drug

File photo

HARRAH, Okla. (AP) — Authorities say several Harrah Junior High School students were taken to a hospital after apparently ingesting the drug Diazepam.

Police say none of the students appeared to be seriously injured after taking the drug Friday. Diazepam is a generic form of Valium and used to treat anxiety and seizures — a side effect can be cardiac arrest.

Officer Phil Stewart told reporters that the drug was distributed by a student who was among those hospitalized. Stewart said the student will be arrested.
