Leonard, OK – Oklahoman pleads guilty in Tulsa Co shooting death

TULSA, Okla. (AP) A Hominy resident has pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in the fatal shooting of a man in Indian Country.

Steven Keeling entered the plea Thursday in U.S. District Court in Tulsa as part of an agreement with federal prosecutors.

Authorities say Keeling fatally shot Edward Brown Jan. 17 at Brown's home on a restricted Indian allotment in Leonard, south of Tulsa. Brown was a member of the Muscogee Creek Nation.

Keeling still faces a shooting with intent to kill count in Tulsa County because another person was wounded in the shooting.

Prosecutors say both sides agreed to a prison sentence of 25 years. Keeling's formal sentencing is scheduled for Sept. 15.

Keeling's attorney, listed in court records as Julia O'Connell, didn't immediately return a phone call after hours seeking comment.
