Ground is Broken; The 1st Event at 'A Gathering Place For Tulsa'

KWGS News

Ground is broken at 12-noon for the 'Gathering Place for Tulsa'. The new park-like facility will cost over one-third of a billion dollars.  Most of the money has been donated my civic minded corporations and foundations. The effort has been  headed by the George Kaiser Family Foundation.

Phase One of the facility will take several years to complete. It will feature walking trails, out door entertainment venues, picnic areas, a lodge, a spot for food trucks and a boat dock. The plans have been publicly vetted for two years, with a scale model on display at several locations around the area.

The 'Gathering Place' is being constructed near to Riverside Drive near the Zink Dam on the Arkansas River.
