Tulsa, OK – Groundbreaking for Tulsa drive-in draws big crowd
TULSA, Okla. (AP) Drive-in movie fans showed their loyalty in Tulsa when they showed up at the groundbreaking for the Admiral Twin, which is being rebuilt after being destroyed by fire.
Owner Blake Smith said Saturday that he hopes the twin-screen theater is running again by mid-August. The drive-in first opened in 1951. It burned to the ground last September.
Smith says the reconstruction will cost $400,000, which was aided by $30,000 in donations from patrons.
