Tulsa, Oklahoma – The "Greening the (918)" Seminar Series, produced by Sustainable Tulsa and Mayor Kathy Taylor's Green Team, continues this evening (Tuesday the 16th) with a program on Local Foods and Sustainable Agriculture. (The seminar happens at the Central Center in Tulsa's Centennial Park, near 6th and Peoria, beginning at 5:30pm.) A panel of Tulsa-area experts will be addressing this topic, among them Doug Walton, who's our guest today on StudioTulsa. Walton is Community Foods Coordinator at the Kerr Center for Sustainable Agriculture (which is located in Poteau). The trend toward eating local foods is on the rise nationally, as Walton points out on this edition of our program, and that trend is quite evident throughout Northeastern Oklahoma. Indeed, statewide, the number of farmer's markets has doubled in the last three years alone. You can find a complete list of such markets, by the way --- and much other, related information --- at BuyFreshBuyLocalOK.com. Also on this show: Ian Shoales is perplexed by a newly available product from the folks at Topps Baseball Cards.
