Green Waste System to Be Revised

KWGS News/TGov

The Tulsa Trash Board votes to put the green waste program on hold through at least January while the system is re-tweaked. The program has been plagued with problems. Trash Board Chair Randy Sullivan says the suspension is the right thing to do.

Residents were told their yard waste would be taken to the city's green waste disposal site at 56th Street North near Highway 75. However, a de-bagger there has not been working. The green waste has been taken to the Trash to Energy Plant where it was burned and turned into power.

Under ordinance, the months of November, December and January are free anyway.

For now, you can put the yard waste inside the trash cart. Any excess must be in a clear-bag, but no sticker is required.
