Grant to Help Fight Crime at 61st and Peoria

The city gets a grant to analyze crime and form a plan to reduce it in a troubled South Tulsa neighborhood.The $100,000 Byrne Crime Innovation grant for the 61st and Peoria neighborhood is announced at the South Tulsa Community House. Police Major Jonathon Brooks says some headway’s already been made in reducing crime in the area, but this study will give an in-depth look at underlying problems and what to do about them. After a stragetic plan is developed, Tulsa will apply for an implementation grant which could be up to a million dollars.
