Oklahoma's multicounty grand jury is recommending the Love County sheriff be removed from office for corruption and other alleged violations.
Attorney General Scott Pruitt said Tuesday that the grand jury has filed an accusation for removal against Sheriff Joe Russell.
A phone call to a number listed for Russell rang unanswered.
The grand jury alleges Russell maintained a house where methamphetamine was kept and used, that he allowed a woman wanted by police to live in his home, and that he allowed a jail inmate to meet with family in a deputy's office where evidence is stored with no law officers present.
A spokesman for Pruitt said no charges have been filed, but that Russell is due in court next Tuesday for arraignment based on the grand jury's findings.
