OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — Oklahoma's multi-county grand jury says a Cleveland County commissioner likely broke state laws with his involvement in a road project, but that the statute of limitations to charge him has expired.
Commissioner Rusty Sullivan said in a statement after the report was released that he cooperated fully with the grand jury investigation and is glad the matter is now resolved.
The report says the commissioner was involved in 2010 in hiring a private company that negotiated payments to property owners affected by the project. The state eventually paid Sullivan and his wife $19,900 in 2011 for damage to their property near Noble from the project.
Sullivan is a Republican completing his second four-year term as county commissioner. He has said he will seek re-election this year to a third term.
