Governor to Support OSU's Use of Wind Power

STILLWATER, Okla. (AP) — Gov. Mary Fallin plans to attend a ceremony to celebrate Oklahoma State University's use of wind power as the main source of electricity for its campus in Stillwater.

Fallin is scheduled to attend Friday morning's ceremony along with Oklahoma State University President Burns Hargis and Oklahoma Gas & Electric Energy Corp. chairman, CEO and president Pete Delaney.

The utility serves nearly 800,000 customers in Oklahoma and western Arkansas.

Fallin has been a strong supporter of alternative energy sources such as wind power.

Last year, a wind company lobbyist estimated that wind producers employ hundreds of construction workers when wind facilities are being developed and provide millions of dollars in local property taxes.
