Gov. Mary Fallin is set to host the first Oklahoma Job and Resource Fair to connect job seekers with employment opportunities and resources.
The job fair is specifically designed to offset the economic effects caused by the downturn in the state's energy sector. The initial event is scheduled for March 26 at the Western Technology Center in Elk City.
The governor has asked state workforce and commerce officials to work with the energy sector and nonprofit organizations to help displaced workers move to new job and career opportunities while also meeting the immediate needs of their families.
The job fairs are part of Fallin's Oklahoma Works initiative, a state-driven workforce and jobs program to help give Oklahomans the work skills and education they need to find well-paying and fulfilling careers.
