NGA

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — A Republican from Guthrie and an independent from Oklahoma City have joined the race for Oklahoma governor.

Kimberly Willis of Oklahoma City filed candidacy papers to run as an independent. Willis is a former educator and current small business owner who said her life experiences as an educator and cancer survivor have prepared her to serve the state.

Dax Ewbank of Guthrie also joined the Republican primary race.

Two candidates who plan to make legalization of marijuana their top priority, 46-year-old Oklahoma City lawyer Chad Moody is a Republican and 34-year-old independent Christian motorcyclist Joe Sills, entered the race Thursday.

Ewbank and Willis join Sills, Moody, Governor Mary Fallin, Democratic state Rep. Joe Dorman of Rush Springs and independent Richard Prawdzienski of Edmond in the race.
