Governor Declines Call for Strip Club Session

There will be no special session of the state legislature to address a proposed strip club in the heart of Mayes County’s Amish country. In an email to KWGS, Governor Fallin’s office says she is opposed to the idea, but the cost of a special session would be over 100 thousand dollars a week. The call for the session came from Democrat State Representative Ben Sherrer. He says if a republican would have made the request, it would have been considered pro-family.

"I'm now getting emails and telephone calls that I'm anti-business and pro-big government, bureaucracy, and regulation. Well, you know, it's a whole matter of perspective I guess."

In the email, the governor urges residents to get engaged and pursue local solutions to the problems.
