Tulsa, OK – Fallin says she won't replace workers comp system
OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) Gov. Mary Fallin says she'll release recommendations this week on her plan to improve the state workers compensation system.
But she says replacing the current system with an administrative one is not among the options.
After she won election in November, Fallin appointed a panel to take a look at the workers compensation system.
Fallin says she wants to reduce the time it takes to process cases and do a better job of tracking data.
The governor also says she wants to attack fraud and abuse and look at reducing medical and legal costs associated with the system.
Fallin says the system has about 170,000 open claims made by injured workers.
A bill in the Oklahoma Legislature would change the present system to an administrative one.
