Pryor, OK – Google Inc. is restarting work on a data center in Pryor nearly two years after delaying the opening of the $600 million project.
Google announced late Wednesday it plans to resume work on the plant. The company said it expects the plant to be fully operational with about 100 employees by late next year.
The center called a "server farm" will include massive clusters of computers that power Google's online services that range from Internet searches to e-mail. Spokeswoman Emily Wood told the Tulsa World the center will handle all the services offered by the company.
Google first announced plans for the center in May 2007. In November 2008 the company said it would delay opening the facility because of a lack of demand for its services.
