Pryor, OK – Google opens $600M data center in Pryor

PRYOR, Okla. (AP) Google has officially opened its new $600 million data center in Pryor.

The 130,000-square-foot data center employs 106 people, and company officials said Thursday they expect that number to grow.

The company plans to soon start construction on a second building at the site to provide additional data capacity, along with employee amenities that include a gym, laundry room and lunch room.

The data center is at Mid-America Industrial Park east of Tulsa. Officials say Google approached park officials in 2006 about possibly locating at the site and committed to doing so a year later.
