Giraffe Review Requested

Tulsa, OK – GIRAFFE REVIEW REQUESTED

In response to the Tulsa City Council's concern expressed in Tuesday's committee meetings, and after conferring with Council Chairman Rick Westcott today, Mayor Dewey Bartlett has asked City Auditor Preston Doerflinger to undertake a review of all circumstances surrounding the transport and delivery of a Tulsa Zoo giraffe.

Tulsa Zoo Director, Terrie Correll, previously provided a report to the USDA and the American Association of Zoos and Aquariums. The USDA is conducting a "focused inspection" that includes a review of the details of the transport and delivery, the originating zoo and the Tulsa Zoo.

The mayor will make his staff and resources available to the city auditor's office to ensure the review can be completed in a timely manner. When completed, Auditor Doerflinger will report the findings to Mayor Bartlett, his management team and the City Council.
