NORMAN, Okla. (AP) — No injuries were reported after a fire broke out at a Norman tire shop, sending giant plumes of smoke into the air.

Authorities say the fire broke out at about 5:45 p.m. Sunday at Hibdon Tires on North Interstate Drive. Norman Deputy Fire Chief Jim Bailey says the blaze was one of the largest commercial fires that crews have responded to this year.

The Norman Transcript reports that a nearby motel was evacuated as a precaution, but guests were allowed back inside later Sunday.

It took firefighters about an hour to extinguish the blaze. Authorities are still working to determine the cause.
